NEW YORK (Reuters Life!) - If your New Year's resolution is to live healthy, you might want to move. A new study shows Salt Lake City, Utah, is the healthiest city for women, while Madison, Wisconsin is the best place for men.
Voters cast their ballots in numbers not seen in at least 40 years, as millions of Americans picked their president early and waited in lines that stretched the lengths of blocks and buildings.
Sarah Palin unlawfully abused her power as governor by trying to have her former brother-in-law fired as a state trooper, the chief investigator of an Alaska legislative panel concluded Friday.

It was not until 32 minutes into Friday night's debate - meant to focus on foreign policy - that either presidential candidate so much as mentioned a foreign policy issue.

In reading about the GOP "strategery" for a one-party state, and the continued use of propaganda to achieve this, here's are little review of recent history (since people have such short memories):
Let's take a look at McCain, and what was left out of convention speeches:

Sarah Palin, in her introduction to Americans as John McCain's running mate, struck back at news organizations and a "Washington elite" that have raised questions about her qualifications to be vice president.
John McCain's campaign on Wednesday angrily called for an end to questions about Sarah Palin's background, calling it a "faux media scandal designed to destroy the first female Republican nominee" for vice president.
Who cares about McCain's VP pick when we can't even support McCain himself? If action speaks louder than words (or lofty speeches), let's take a closer look at the Real McCains:
Sarah Palin is as dramatic a contrast as one can envision with Republican presidential candidate John McCain.
The vile, profane and even threatening comments I've received have been omitted, but these only make the case on how violent the right-wing is.
The replies above, well to TomK:
Fascism (pronounced /ˈfæʃɪzəm/) is a radical and authoritarian nationalist political ideology.[1][2][3][4] Fascists seek to organize a nation according to corporatist perspectives, values, and systems, including the political system and the economy. Fascism was originally founded by Italian national syndicalists in World War I who combined left-wing and right-wing political views, but it gravitated to the political right in the early 1920s. Scholars generally consider fascism to be on the far right of the conventional left-right political spectrum.
I leave it to the readers to decide whether the intent of the founding fathers and the constitution is for separation of church and state, or "quite the opposite" per Ardrialle.
It's a good thing conservatives couldn't get a law requiring a test to vote. I suspect Ardialle wouldn't pass it.
Then you do NOT know the meaning of Fascism. Please look this up and you will see we have been swimming in the pool of Fascism. If Nobama gets his health care bill passed, then we have stepped from fascism to a communist run country. I am not being dramatic, when the government controls banking, industry, health care, you have arrived.
Take time to listen to exPresident Ronald Regan speech from either 1961-63. Directed to government sponsored health care. If this doesn't scare the hell out of you, then you have truly drunk the kool-aid.
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof." The intention of the founding fathers, as everyone knows, was to prevent a state-endorsed church like the Church of England, or worse, a complete theocracy as we see in countries like Iran. This means not favoring a religion, which even extends to the general category of Christianity, and the right of each individual to believe as they choose including Judaism, Islam, etc. without fear of persecution.
But more importantly, it means that taxes (i.e., government funding) cannot be used for religious purposes in public-funded institutions such as schools, court houses, etc. Also, churches that use religion to promote a particular political view and encourage "block voting" for a particular candidate are in violation of voting laws and IRS/tax laws of non-profit tax exemption for non-political, charitable organizations.
Many social conservatives have no historical knowledge that "under God" was added to the Pledge of Allegiance, the Ten Commandments placed in government buildings, and even "In God We Trust" added to our currency in very recent history (most starting around the 1950s), and that these things were NEVER started or encouraged by our founding fathers.
Social conservatives try to interpret the First Amendment to fit their views, of course. And though it is true that Christianity is the majority religion in the U.S., this is precisely why the fair and equal treatment of all religions is all the more important. If you want to live in a Theocracy in which everyone if forced to embrace your specific religious beliefs, please, please move elsewhere. This is The Land of the FREE.
And remember, religion is always best kept a private choice and practiced as such, not just out of respect for those who believe differently, but to maintain the true purpose of religious teachings and spirituality. And as such, it would be nice to see focus on the poor and taking care of the planet become more important then imposing your personal positions on others regarding abortion.
After incidents such as the Terri Schiavo intervention, Americans began to see the dangers of Christian control in our country. Because social conservatives have become so aggressive and extreme and have caused our nation to focus on emotional issues rather than real problems we are facing, you are now seeing a push back (Sarah Palin -- yikes!). But remember, it's not because anyone is out to get you or take your rights away. It's because you started this with your self-righteous imperialism, and you have no one to blame but yourself.
Correction on separation of church and state taken from the US Constitution:
"Amendment I
CONGRESS SHALL MAKE NO LAW RESPECTING AN ESTABLISHMENT OF RELIGION, OR PROHIBITING THE FREE EXERCISE THEREOF; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.""Amendment X
The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people."
It is NOT separation of church and state, its quite the opposite.
I see why you misconstrue EVERYTHING. I cringe at the thought of people like you going to the polls.
